Again, this is a very “serious” trek not for beginners or the faint-hearted. What makes it somewhat special is the side trek (from Lokpa) into the pristine and largely untrekked Tsum Valley, with it’s well-maintained monasteries and nunneries, lush hills and valleys and farms. Altitudes on the trail vary, with numerous turns and probings through deep and dark gorges. All the way up to Samdo (3860 m), follow the Budi Gandaki River gorge, with glaciers and high features on either side. For the arduous hike up to and over the Larkye-la Pass (5220 m), its necessary to start at around 2-3 a.m. The trail can be exposed, very cold and windy but then there are the tremendous views of Himlung (7126m), Kangguru (6981 m) and Annapurna II (7937m).
